Cautious Style has passed on his outstanding movement and conformation to his progeny. Cautious Style is well known in the New Zealand racing industry and has sired many successful racehorses. Cautious Style was a winner of 5f at 2 in England and described by Timeform as being a big, well-made colt with plenty of scope, showed excellent speed.
Cautious Style cames from excellent racing bloodlines on both sides, his sire was Caucasus and dam Impressive Style. Caucasus was the leading three year old in Ireland in 1975, second top Older Horse (Turf) in USA at 4 and equal second top Older Horse (Turf) in USA at 5. Caucasus won 9 races, 3 in Group One, his winning totaling $US445,111. Cautious Style dam is Impressive Style who was a top class racemare, with a brilliant track record winning 19 races, and earning $335,118.
Cautious Style was imported to New Zealand by Brian & Lorraine Anderton at WHITE ROBE LODGE, Mosgiel, Otago and served at their stud for a number of years until retiring to Beaumont Station in 1994. Cautious Style served for three seasons at Beaumont Station and produced many outstanding foals, many of which have gone on to become successful and reliable competition horses. Cautious Style was a truly impressive individual and was a really well balanced athletic type which has come through in his progeny.
Cautious Style is also the Gran Sire of Jock Paget famous event horse Clifton Promise. In 2013 Jock Paget had rare double in the sport's most prestigious events on Clifton Promise. Paget, 29, won the Burghley horse trials in Lincolnshire in September 2013 after victory at Badminton in May 2013. This is the first time since 1989 that a rider has won the Badminton-Burghley double in the same calendar year.
